Community Hope wishes to thank the NY Giants and MetLife for featuring our work as New Jersey’s leading charity serving homeless veterans. NY Giants Wide Receiver Dominik Hixon toured our Hope for Veterans Transitional Housing Program as part of the NFL’s tribute this month to our country’s military and veterans.
The Big Blue player greeted our veterans residing at Hope for Veterans and thanked them for their service to our country. Dominik spoke words of encouragement to a Purple Heart and Medal of Valor recipient who is working to recover from physical injuries and traumatic brain injury caused by his tours of duty in Iraq. He also met one of the first graduates of Hope for Veterans, who now helps employ other homeless veterans. Dominik then toured construction of our 63-unit Valley Brook Village for Veterans.
Begun in August, the buildings’ foundations are in place and Windover Construction site manager Al Pool anticipates that the development will be completed by Summer 2013. MetLife has invested funding toward the $15.5 million project jointly developed by Community Hope, Peabody Properties and Windover.
